MoDOT set to Begin Roadwork in 16 Counties

COLUMBIA - MoDOT is planning to begin general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area.

Construction will start on Mon., Oct. 28 and run through Fri., Nov. 8. MoDOT said weather conditions might cause postponements in the work schedule.

Many projects will include lane closures, and MoDOT said delays can be expected. Also, other construction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways near the designated construction sights.

All counties can expect mowing of right of ways and striping of the roadways in various locations. MoDOT urges motorists to travel with care and to be alert to slow-moving equipment along the side of the roads.

Here is a list detailing the scheduled maintenance by county and location:

Boone County:

  • Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) at Interstate 70- The widening of Stadium Boulevard will continue throughout winter of 2014. MoDOT advises motorists to watch for construction equipment and be aware of the lane and intersection closures. This construction will take place during both daylight and overnight hours.
  • Route 163 between Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) and Mick Deaver Memorial Drive- Concrete replacement will take place the entire two-week maintenance period. MoDOT said one lane will be open through the work area. This construction will take place during the overnight hours.
  • Route WW at Keene Street in Columbia- Concrete replacement will take place the entire two-week period. MoDOT said one lane will be open and, crews will flag traffic through the work area. This construction will take place during the overnight hours.
  • Route 63 between Route 22 and Route 124- Roadside maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Some mid-Missourians are happy about the construction in Boone County.

"Everything is progress," Cooper County Julius Udinyiwe said. "Every progress has some development, and we have to get used to some of those situations. For us to move to the next level to be a city that attracts tourists and big business we have to accept the changes that comes along with the development."

Callaway County:

  • Route M between Interstate 70 and Route E- Roadway maintenance will take place Mon., Oct 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route HH between Interstate 70 and Route 54- Roadway maintenance will take place Mon., Oct 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Camden County:

  • Route 5 bridge over the Lake of the Ozarks at Hurricane Deck- MoDOT said the new bridge is open to traffic, but the contractor will perform general cleanup under the bridge and prepare to start demolishing the old Hurricane Deck Bridge over the next several months. MoDOT said the work will have little impact on the traffic. The work will take place during both daylight and overnight hours.
  • Route 7 between Route 5 and Route DD- Culvert pipe maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Cole County:

  • Route B over the Osage River Bridge north of St. Thomas- MoDOT said bridge rehabilitation work is complete, but occasional lane closures are still possible for the next few weeks in order to paint the bridge. The paining will occur during both daylight and overnight hours.

Crawford County:

  • Route 8 between Route 19 and the Washington County line- Roadside maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Nov. 7. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.  
  • Route 19 between Route 49 and the Salem city limits in Dent County- MoDOT said roadway resurfacing and widening of the shoulders will continue. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route C between Route P and Argo Street- Roadway maintenance will take place Mon., Oct 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route WW between the Interstate 44 North Outer Road and the end of state maintenance- Roadway maintenance will take place Mon., Oct 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Dent County:

  • Route B between Route 19 and Route 72- Roadway maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 thorough Fri., Nov.8. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Gasconade County:

  • Route J over First Creek, south of Route 100- MoDOT said bridge maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route J between Route F and Stople Road- Culvert pipe maintenance will take place Mon., Nov. 4 through Fri., Nov. 8. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Howard County:

  • Route K, approximately one mile west of Route 87- Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Tues., Oct. 29. MoDOT said the road will be closed between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., and MoDOT advises motorists to seek an alternative route.

Laclede County:

  • Interstate 44 over the Gasconade River, west of the Pulaski County line- MoDOT said bridge inspection in the eastbound and westbound lanes will take place the week of Oct. 28. One eastbound and one westbound lane will be open through the work area. This maintenance will take place during both the daylight and overnight hours.

Miller County:

  • Route 17 between Route 42 and Business Loop 44 in Pulaski County- MoDOT said the roadway resurfacing and widening of the shoulders will continue. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route 17 between Route 52 and Route 54 in Cole County- Roadside maintenance will take place Mon., Nov. 4 through Fri., Nov. 8. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route 42 between Route 17 and Route 54- Roadway maintenance will take place Tues., Oct. 29 through Fri., Nov. 8. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route 52 between Route 17 and Route 54- Roadside maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route D between Columbia Avenue and Oak Bend Road- Roadway maintenance will take place on Mon., Oct. 28. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route E between Route 52 and Whalen Creek Road- MoDOT will be replacing a culvert pipe on Fri., Nov. 8. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work areas. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route U between Route 42 and Route EE- Culvert pipe replacement will take place Mon., Nov. 4 though Thurs., Nov. 7. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Moniteau County:

  • Route 87 between Route O and Interstate 70 in Cooper County- MoDOT said roadway resurfacing, widening of shoulders, and installation of rumble strips will continue. One lane will remain open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. MoDOT said this work is scheduled for completion in mid-Nov.. This work will take place during daylight hours.

Morgan County:

  • Route 5 between Route 52 and the Niangua Bridge in Camden County- MoDOT said roadway resurfacing, widening of shoulders, and installation of rumble strips will continue. MoDOT also said that occasional lane closures are likely in the work zones. The project is scheduled for completion in early Dec.. This work will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route 135 between Cuptree Road and Little Proctor Road- Culvert pipe replacement will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This work will take place during daylight hours.

Osage County:

  • Route 50 between Route 63 and Route W- MoDOT said construction of new lanes will continue, and most of the work is not expected to impact traffic. The entire project is scheduled for completion in fall 2014. When work is done it will take place during daylight hours.

Phelps County:

  • Route 72 between Route 63 and County Road 5220- MoDOT said roadway resurfacing and signal upgrades will continue. One lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in the winter. This maintenance will take place during both daylight and overnight hours.
  • Interstate 44 over the Little Piney Creek, east of Route D- MoDOT said bridge inspection in the eastbound and westbound lanes will take place the week of Nov.4. One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open through the work area, and the work will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route B over the Bourbeuse River, south of the Gasconade County line- MoDOT said bridge inspection will take place the week of Nov. 4. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The inspections will take place during daylight hours.
  • Route T between Route M and Route P- Roadway maintenance is schedule Mon., Oct. 28 through Fri., Nov. 8. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.

Randolph County:MoDOT will be doing culvert pipe replacements on several routes in this area. MoDOT said all work will be completed between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. MoDOT warns that portions of the road may be open to local traffic only.

  • Route K- On Oct. 28 road closed US 63 to half a mile east of US 63
  • Route F- On Oct. 29 road closed from 6 miles east of MO 3 to 7 miles east of MO 3
  • Route B- On Oct. 30 road closed from MO 3 to 1 mile east of MO 3

Washington County:

  • Route JJ between Route C and the end of state maintenance- Roadside maintenance will take place Mon., Oct. 28 through Thurs., Oct. 31. MoDOT said one lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. This maintenance will take place during daylight hours.
