MoDOT Waives Fees for Joplin-Bound Trucks
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri's transportation department said it's working quickly to clear the way for trucks hauling oversized and overweight loads to reach Joplin.
The agency said Monday it's expediting permits and waiving fees for heavy trucks heading to the tornado-stricken city with materials needed for the recovery.
Out-of-state carriers that don't have authority to operate in Missouri can request registration and fuel permits. The Department of Transportation says the permits will be given priority
processing and be issued free of charge. The waivers will be offered until noon on May 30. Other Missouri traffic and truck regulations remain in place.
