MoDOT Waives Permit Fee for Wide Hay Loads
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri transportation officials are waiving a fee for a permit to haul wide loads of hay through the end of the year.
State officials say severe weather in the central part of the county has created challenges for farmers.
The fee will be waived for loads of up to 12 feet, 4 inches wide and that are of legal height, length and weight. Waiving the fee could save haulers up to $64.
It also will allow the wider loads to be moved on holidays and at night, which normally is not allowed.
Truck drivers at night must use a reflective, oversized load sign and clearance lights instead of flags at the edges of their loads.
