Monroe City Workshop Shelter Gets FEMA Grant
After the twister tore through one of the workshop buildings last spring, the shelter had to use other buildings in town.
Monroe City Administrator Jim Burns recalled, "Essentially all of the area was destroyed."
Now, thanks to a $772,000 FEMA grant, Thurman and her employees finally have a new home.
"We'll be so happy to get moved and get settled," she said.
Thurman says the new building at the edge of town will provide more business opportunities and let her hire more workers.
The Monroe Shelter Workshop will break ground at its new location next Tuesday
