Month after home invasion, third shooting victim dies
ST. PETERS (AP) — A third person is now dead from a drug-related home invasion in August in suburban St. Louis.
St. Charles County police say the homeowner's son, 21-year-old Daniel Patrick Donovan Jr., died Tuesday morning. Donovan, his 53-year-old father, Daniel Patrick Donovan, and the 32-year-old suspect, Amonte Savyon Dees, were all shot in the backyard of the Donovan home on Aug. 8.
The elder Donovan and Dees died the day of the shooting.
Police say Dees shot both the father and son, and the elder Donovan shot Dees.
Police believe Dees was at the home for a drug robbery, confronting another of Donovan's sons and a woman about drugs. The elder Donovan heard the noise and came to his son's aid, leading to the fatal confrontation.
