More Fans Equals Tougher Parking
Weimer says the best place to park without a permit is the Maryland Avenue Garage. Most lots closer to the arena will require a permit.
Traffic directors had to send many fans further away, causing a lot of them to miss tip off, and those who tend to run late ran really late. At about halftime at Saturday's game, out of breath fans were still dwindling in, because of the difficulty finding a place to park.
Some fans tried to avoid the parking situation altogether.
"Well, basically, we decided to get dropped off because the parking was pretty bad," said MU fan Ayaaz Habib. "Since it's the first Big XII game, it's a pretty big game, we decided just to be dropped off to try and avoid the traffic and everything."
As more and more students return to Columbia, officials say that they are ready to take on the crowd.
"The most important thing to remember is to arrive early. Because remember that your coming, with a large crowd," said Weimer. "So at least 30 minutes ahead of time plan on being here to get into the arena. That way you'll be here for opening tip off."
