More Missouri Students Taking SAT
JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - The average SAT scores for Missouri's college-bound high school seniors were nearly unchanged this year, even though more students took the test.
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education said Wednesday more than 3,200 graduating seniors took the college-entrance exam this year. That's up about 4 percent from 2010.
Of a possible 800 points, Missouri students scored an average 592 on the critical reading part of the test, down a single point from 2010. They also posted averages of 593 on the math portion,
down two points from a year ago, and 579 on the writing portion, also a single point lower from 2010.
Missouri's average scores were significantly higher than the national averages of 494 in reading, 506 in math and 483 in writing.
