MU Campus Remembers Students
COLUMBIA - Friends, family and faculty came together Friday for MU Remembers, an annual event to remember Mizzou students who passed away since last April. This year, MU remembered 10 students.
Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Cathy Scroggs and other MU faculty and staff held a ceremony in Memorial Union on MU's campus. Those who attended watched a slideshow of those who passed away, listened to music, and spent time to remember.
"We started this about 10 years ago," said Cathy Scroggs. "We wanted to find a way to bring the community together to recognize and honor and remember the students who have passed away this last academic year. MU Remembers helps us realize how precious life is."
The ceremony was followed by a reception. Those honoring a student were able to view a personalized plaque with the students name on it.
In honor of the students, MU Flags will fly half staff and the Memorial Unions lights were darkened at night.
The people who were memorialized include: Matthew Bazoian, Mason Cummins, Eric Krieger, Caitlyn Leclerc, Michael Miller, Jonathan Morgan, Daniel Schatz, Scott Schmitt, Ian Thomas and Caitlin Valora.
