COLUMBIA - MU Chancellor Brady Deaton released a statement Thursday regarding the late Dr. Hugh Stephenson. Stephenson led the effort to create a four-year medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Stephenson passed away Thursday morning.
Deaton wrote, "I speak for the entire MU family when I say how very saddened we are to learn of the passing of one of the true giants in the history of the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics and the School of Medicine...His interests were varied, his skills were legendary and his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of us all."
