COLUMBIA - The MU Curators meeting Tuesday will discuss improvements to the university like the addition of a new residence hall on campus. It will also talk about possible athletic upgrades. For more information on athletic improvements click here.
The dorm project, titled Virginia Avenue South Housing, will have a budget of $28,400,000, according to the project approval document. Residential Life Revenue Bonds will finance $21,615,000. University of Missouri Campus Utility Reserves will pay $285,000 for related utility infrastructure.
If approved, the residence hall would be ready for occupancy in fall 2015. The 92,400 square foot five-story residence hall would have 330 beds. It is set to be between College Avenue and Virginia Avenue south of the existing Hospital Drive. With 6,500 freshman on campus this fall, there is an overwhelming demand for more housing.
