COLUMBIA - KOMU 8 confirmed Monday that prosecutors charged University of Missouri football quarterback Corbin Berkstresser with a misdemeanor for fleeing the scene of an accident. According to Berkstresser's attorney Bogdan Susan, the Boone County prosecutor's office gave those charges on Friday.

Susan also said Berkstresser was never charged with a felony for his alleged involvement in the car accident.

In May, the Columbia Police Department reported Berkstresser left the scene of an accident near the 2900 block of Lynnwood Drive around 3:15 a.m. Police said Berkstresser hit a parked car and then left without notifying the owner. Officers said Berkstresser admitted his involvement in the incident.

According to mutigers.com, Berkstresser plays quarterback and is from Lee's Summit. The football team suspended Berkstresser from the team a few days after the incident.
