MU's iPad App Offers a Look at Past Homecomings
COLUMBIA - As MU students and alumni prepare for this weekend's homecoming, they now have a new way to look back at the past 99 years of celebrations.
On Friday, MU presented a demonstration of the school's first iPad app, "MU Homecoming: 100 Years in photos," as part of the School of Journalism's Open House. Rhonda Prast was one of the faculty members who worked with students to create the app.
The app features more than 140 pictures and was produced through a partnership between Mizzou Magazine, Vox Magazine and the Missouri School of Journalism.
Prast said there are currently no plans to make the app available for the iPhone because a smaller screen would make it difficult to view some of the photos. However, they are exploring options to make it available on larger Android tablets.
The app can be downloaded for free on Apple's iTunes store. As of Friday morning, there were more than 1,000 downloads.
