COLUMBIA - A tweet has one Columbia political club president in the middle of controversy.

Fred Berry, president of the Columbia Pachyderm Club, tweeted a photo from Saturday's homecoming parade. The photo was taken from behind the women of the University of Missouri's Delta Gamma sorority with the caption, "This was my view of Mizzou homecoming parade today--Delta Gamma VNB's".

KOMU 8 News contacted Barry, who referred KOMU to his comments made in the Columbia Daily Tribune.

Berry said the acronym VNB stood for Very Nice Butts.

On Tuesday the tweet started to gain traction on social media as women from Delta Gamma began to comment on Berry's tweet.

Berry told the Columbia Daily Tribune the discussion began when a women in the group he was with made a comment about the sorority members.

"She said, 'All those girls are wearing these nice sleek pants, but I think in our day we were in better shape,'" Berry told the Tribune. "I said, 'No, we weren't. You can tell by the way they're walking. You can see all the muscles there.'"

Berry said the caption has been interpreted incorrectly.

"How do they know what is in my heart?" he told the Tribune. "I am sorry, I am not going to apologize for something that was not wrong. I totally forgot we have all these devils out there looking for something."

In a news release Monday, Mizzou College Democrats said Republicans should remove Berry from his position.

[Editor's note: This story has been updated to fix the misspelling of the word "release."]
