COLUMBIA - MU has what its calling a "significant announcement" regarding the university's policy about on-campus smoking.
Mizzou's recent history of on-campus smoking has included a gradual decline in areas on campus that allow smoking. In July of last year, the school designated 16 outdoor areas around campus for smoking in addition to parking garages and parking lots. At the same time, officials announced a plan to completely ban smoking on school grounds by Jan. 1, 2014.
Thursday at 10 a.m. the university plans to make another major announcement regarding smoking. It will come during the 2012 Great American Smoke Out, an annual event encouraging smoker to make plans to quit.
