MU Welcomes Home Alumni
COLUMBIA - University of Missouri students and alumni celebrate its 101th homecoming this weekend. This year's theme is "Many Tigers, One Roar" and 14 fraternity and sorority pairs are in a competition for bragging rights for decorating their houses in Greek Town. Each house has a theme from one era ranging from the roaring 20's to the Old West.
The students put on giant skits for the public from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Judges pick the top five houses on Sunday. Last year's winners where Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. The competition will give the students bragging rights during rush season.
The Alumni Association put on a completion celebration for alumni, serving snacks and beverage and creating an atmosphere to mingle with fellow tigers. Alumni who donated money also took portraits in front of their brick on the Mizzou Legacy Walk. So far, the association has sold more than 2,500 bricks and received more than $1 million in donations.
The public can enjoy a spirit rally and campus wide concert from 9:30-11 p.m. Friday following the house decoration skits. National recording artist Imagine Dragons will be the headliner for the concert. Marching Mizzou and the Golden Girls will also perform at the spirit rally, followed by special guest speakers.
This comes all before the homecoming football game against the University of Kentucky.
