Multi-Vitamin Provides Migraine Relief
It's been more than 11 years since Debra Moreau had her very first migraine. It was shortly after the birth of her daughter. "I had the type where you'd lose your vision. From there I'd have to lay down. I mean they just debilitate you."
Debra would have several migraines a week. That's when her neurologist, and headache specialist, Dr. Gary L'Europa suggested she try something new he helped develop.
It's a complete multi-vitamin that includes two supplements, known to help relieve headaches. Magnesium is one of them. "There's some feeling that patients that have migraines have magnesium deficiency," said L'Europa.
The other ingredient, riboflavin, is a B vitamin that helps cells utilize energy.
But Dr. L'Europa is quick to tell you it doesn't work overnight. It takes up to three months to see the effects. But the results, at least so far, have been rather impressive.
According to L'Europa, "At least half of the patients that try it will get at least 50% reduction of their headaches and that's the same as any prescription medication."
Moreau has been taking the multivitamin for six months now. "I know the last four months, I haven't had a single one. I'm surprised and grateful all at the same time," she laughed.
Any changes to migraine treatment should first be cleared by a doctor.
