Multiple break-ins at Jefferson City store lead to employee's arrest
JEFFERSON CITY — Officers say they found blood and loose cash after responding to a break-in at a prepaid cell phone store early Monday morning, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect in a town several miles away.
Jefferson City police arrested Gregory Young, Jr. at his home in Holts Summit after examining the crime scene at the metroPCS store on Missouri Boulevard, linking it to a separate Oct. 20 burglary at the same location.
Police believe Young, an employee at the store, may have been involved in the first burglary, which caused them to suspect he played a role in the second break-in, as well.
Officers approached Young at his home. After finding evidence they say linked Young to the first burglary, the police decided to take him into custody for further questioning.
Young was arrested on suspicion of second degree burglary and property destruction for Monday's break-in, as well as second degree burglary for the incident on Oct. 20. He was being held in Cole County Jail.
