COLUMBIA - In reaction to the campus evacuations on the UT-Austin and North Dakota State University campuses, MU Police Department says it is watching the situation very closely. The university has not received any threatening calls. But the department offers some tips on how to handle a threatening phone call if it ever happens to you.
- If you answer a call that threatens a person or location, be sure to write down as much detail as you can. That includes word for word what the caller said. Do not paraphrase the threat.
- Most phone systems have caller ID. Be sure to write down the phone number and a name if there is one.
- If possible, take note of any background noises you hear during the phone call.
The university tells KOMU 8 safety is always its first priority. You can sign up for emergency alerts from the campus by visiting its MU Alerts website.
