Murder-Suicide Near Sedalia
According to the Pettis County Sheriff, two of the victims were shot in a trailer Monday morning, then the shooter turned the gun on himself.
The shootings occured at the Happy Acres Mobile Home Park just outside Sedalia sometime between 11:00 Sunday night and 7:00 Monday morning.
Pettis County Sheriff's Office got the shocking phone call shortly after 7 a.m.
A resident who lives near the victims told police there was a dead man laying on the ground in front of trailer 44.
At the mobile home park, located off Highway 65, officials identified the victim as Stephen Veach. He died from a single gunshot wound.
Deputies then found the bodies of Amy Wall and Daniel Veach inside the trailer. They believe Daniel Veach shot and killed his brother Stephen Veach and Stephen's fiance Amy Wall, and then killed himself.
"Daniel Veach and Stephen Veach were brothers, and all of the deceased persons lived inside the trailer. Stephen Veach and Amy Wall were soon to be married," explained sheriff Kevin Bond.
"Talk among the family that when Stephen and Amy got married, Daniel was going to have to move out and get a job and go to work," explained captain Dave Keller.
Officials say Daniel Veach had a long history of mental illness. The owners of the mobile home park say they've never had a problem with the Veaches before.
Neighbors are stunned and in disbelief. The neighbors said the Veach brothers were good people, who never caused a problem.
