MVC Men's Volleyball Wins Two at Home
MARSHALL, MO -- The No. 8 Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team took on St. Xavier University in a home double header Saturday afternoon. The Vikings won match one 3-1 and match two 3-1.
The Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team were down early in match one, but put together three strong set to take the win 23-25, 25-13, 25-10, and 25-17.
Junior Outside Hitter Peterson Silva finished with 17 kills and two blocks, while Junior Middle Blocker Jacob Haar had 10 kills and six blocks. Freshman Libero Victor Magelhaes contributed 12 digs and Junior Setter Will McCracken had 28 assists, four aces, and four blocks.
In match two MVC won sets one and two, fell in a tight game three, before taking the match with a back and forth game four 25-21, 25-11, 21-25, 25-23.
Junior Outside Hitter Peterson Silva finished with 16 kills, five digs, and two blocks, while Junior Middle Blocker Jacob Haar had eight kills, three aces, six digs, and four blocks. Senior Libero Aaron Robinson had 12 digs, and Junior Setter Will McCracken had 28 assists and three aces.
The win improves the Vikings to 11-5 overall and 3-4 in MAMVIC play. St. Xavier University drops to 5-14 overall and 3-7 in conference. The Vikings will be in action again March 15-16 when they travel to Milwaukee, Wisc. to compete in the Stritch Wolves Invitational. The Vikings face Medaille College at 9:15 am and Warner University at 1:15pm.
