Neighbors help victims escape early morning Fulton fire
FULTON - The Fulton Fire Department said it responded to a structure fire early Wednesday morning at a historical home on Court Street.
Firefighters said the house was occupied at the time of the fire, but neighbors were able to get the occupants out. When fire crews arrived on scene about 5:30 a.m., they were met by heavy flames showing from the second floor.
The Fulton Fire Department (FFD) said firefighters entered the house and encountered heavy fire and intense heat, forcing them back out of the house.
Firefighters said they were assisted by the Central Callaway Fire Protection, South Callaway Fire Protection and North Callaway Fire Protection.
FFD said they were investigating the fire along with The Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office investigators.
Damage estimates were not immediately available.
