Neighbors Respond to Daniels Homicide
COLUMBIA - KOMU 8 News spoke with several of Brian Daniels' neighbors Monday morning to see how his death has impacted the neighborhood.
All of the neighbors said it is bizarre to have something like this happen in their neighborhood. At the time of the homicide Wednesday night, neighbors said they did not hear or see anything. They said their only indication that something happened was when police showed up at Daniels' home.
Neighbors described Daniels as "an eccentric character" and "a recluse." Many said they haven't seen Daniels in almost a year.
The murder suspect, James Thompson, told KOMU 8 News Thursday he and Daniels were partners and lived together in Daniels' home. But neighbors said they thought Daniels lived alone.
The neighbors would not give their names to KOMU 8 News.
Columbia Police arrested the 23-year-old Thompson Sunday afternoon for first degree murder. His bond is set at $2 million cash only.
Police also detained 24-year-old Christopher James Hurt in regard to the homicide.
The department is still investigating the homicide.
The judge on the case said he will release the probable cause statement Tuesday when he returns to the office.
