COLUMBIA- A new national campaign is encouraging holiday shoppers to give this season. About 117 million shoppers searched the web for deals on Cyber Monday, and more than one million dollars was spent by online shoppers on Black Friday this year. Non-profit organizations, charities and businesses across the nation are partnering to launch this year's #GiveTuesday campaign. The movement was introduced in an effort to combat the large amount of spending often associated with the Thanksgiving season.
The Heart of Missouri United Way is one of 2,000 partners joining the movement this year. #GiveTuesday is using social media to pilot it's campaign Tuesday. More information about how to get involved is available at givingtuesday.org.
