New High School Locations Added
The southeast Columbia location proposed several months ago caused controversy as some charged it was in the middle of nowhere. As a result, the district is now considering even more options.
Following the controversial first proposed location, a second landowner offered to donate land near the Lake of the Woods exit on Interstate 70. Now, four other property owners have made offers.
A newly created task force is helping the district to decide which of one these now six options will be best for the new school location. One of the newly announced possible locations is just north of Saint Charles Road near Route Z. Other possible locations are south of Richland Road, located north of W-W, or to its southeast on Olivet Road. The most recently announced possibility is near the intersection of New Haven Road and Rolling Hills Road.
A newly created task force is helping the district to decide which one of these now six options will be best for the new school location. School Board President Karla Despain said that the board and task force will fully consider all options before making a decision.
The task force will meet on September 18th at 6:30pm. The public is welcome to attend.
