New High School Site Chosen
The board chose for the new high school to be built on an 80 acre site on St. Charles road.
The six options discussed Monday night were: the Tom Bass property on Highway 763 near Prathersville, an 80 acre site on St. Charles road, the George Godas' land north of Interstate 70 near Route Z, property on Richland Road on Columbia's east side, a 56 acre site along New Haven Road, and The Vemer southeast of Columbia.
One board member says it's a bit of a guessing game.
"You know you want to try to meet the needs that you have now, but you also try to meet the needs of the future. And that's always a give and take, so there's no good answer toward that one. You're not going to please everybody," explained Tom Rose, a board member.
The new high school will be completed in 2010.
