New Look for Old Landmark
"Just to come down and enjoy the lakefront for a while, enjoy the beautiful gardens and flowers and see the lake close up," he explained. So any visitor that comes to the lake not only can visit Willmore Lodge, but can also visit the point."
The historic lodge was originally used during Ameren UE's construction of Bagnell Dam. Willmore Point, a mile north of Bagnell Dam, is being dedicated as part of the dam's 75th anniversary.
"This just extends the beauty of the lodge," said Janice Tyler, president of the Willmore Foundation. "When people come and take a look at the lake and they look down at the beautiful flowers and can come down right as you can see, we lap the water, so it's just an excellent extension of the lodge."
Willmore Lodge serves as the Lake of the Ozarks Chamber of Commerce, visitor center, museum and offices.
