New Mental Health Director Announced
Schafer has a bachelor's degree in education from Oklahoma Christian College in Oklahoma City, a master's from Drury College in Springfield, Mo., and a doctorate in education administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
If approved by the State Senate Schafer will lead a department with over 8,000 employees statewide and a budget exceeding one billion dollars.
The Department of Mental Health works towards preventing mental disorders, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse. The department does this by treating, habilitation, and rehabilitating people with these conditions and by educating Missourians
