New MU Fraternity Recognized
Delta Lambda Phi will be recognized as a colony this week by the national fraternity when it inducts its Alpha class at the campus. Two previous attempts to bring the fraternity to MU failed due to lack of interest. The group says it is for gay, bisexual and open-minded men. The vice president of the national fraternity will be at the induction on the MU campus Friday. Members from Kansas State, Iowa State, the University of Missouri-Rolla and other chapters throughout the Midwest will be there. Delta Lambda Phi was formed in Washington, DC, in 1987 to establish a fraternity that does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Nationally, the fraternity recognizes 18 chapters, 10 colonies and eight prospective colonies.
