New Possibilities for Discovery Parkway
COLUMBIA - The city of Columbia approved a new subdivision plat Monday night. The land off highway 63 and Discovery Parkway is owned by Bruce Odle. Odle is the father of the two developers of Brookeside downtown.
Last Thursday, a group of developers, engineers, city planners, fire department, public works department, and water and light department met during a concept review meeting. At that meeting, they discussed the idea of Discovery Park Subdivision.
Mike Hall, principle engineer of the project, works for Columbia Civil Engineering group. He says the subdivision would be located off Ponderosa and Discovery Parkway. Hall said the group also hopes to construct 4 large apartment buildings, 21 cottage style apartment buildings, 2 pool houses, 2 five story office buildings, 21 retail spaces, 1 convenience store or gas station, and a fast food restaurant.
The next step for the developers is to submit additional plans to the city. Hall anticipates that will happen within the next two weeks.
