New sports and entertainment degree offered at Westminster College
FULTON - Westminster College's course listing will expand in the fall, when it begins to offer a new sports and entertainment business management degree.
The program will focus on marketing, finances, venues, operations and laws.
It will be run by Jack Croghan, former vice president of business development and sports sales for the Edward Jones Dome and former marketing director for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The college said students will learn to manage sports and entertainment organizations with an emphasis on entrepreneurship and leadership.
A press release from the college said the program will recognize the connection of sports and entertainment to tourism, community and economic development. Coursework will prepare students for careers in industries like the sports commission, tourism and convention and visitors bureau, the statement said.
