New Tornado Sirens
"There was some intense lightning. The tornado did not kill anyone, but it caused serious damage," said Ralph Hoppe.
Hoppe is Middle Grove's school board president. His wife Sarah Hoppe just finished teaching her fourth year at the town's only school. They were there that day in March and were instrumental in raising money for the new sirens.
"A lot of people lost their homes, are probably so thankful that we're gonna get the siren," said Sarah Hoppe.
It is quiet in Middle Grove, just like last March, but construction will soon start on tornado sirens, which will be situated at the tallest point in the town. With the Hoppe's help, the town of 55 people raised $1,500, and received grants totaling over $7,500. The town held a celebration Tuesday to mark the end of fundraising.
