New Trail Dedicated
The ceremony formally opened the new expansion of the trail to include a large section which runs through Lincoln University's campus. Both Jefferson City and Lincoln University helped design the trail and hope to tie the community together through the trails and bring the community to Lincoln's campus.
"One of things I first noted when I came here was the panoramic view so this part of the greenway is certainly one we want everyone to come forth and take part and enjoy it," Vice President of Administration and Finance Curtis Creagh said.
The expansion runs through Lincoln's campus from Soldier's Hall on Lafeyette Street to the softball field, then splits and goes to Stadium Boulevard and to Chesnut Street. The trail is ten feet wide and includes two bridges.
The new trail cost about $400,000, with over half of the money coming from a MoDOT grant. The rest of the funds came from the city and Lincoln University.
