Nine Students Suspended, One Arrested
Nine students at Roosevelt High School in St. Louis were suspended, and one arrested, after two fights broke out Friday morning. One student was hit in the eye and hospitalized. No word on his condition.
The school is the largest public high school in the city.
School officials say the first fight began in a hallway. Later, there was a second fight, apparently related to the first, this one in the cafeteria. Some property damage in the cafeteria was reported, including broken glass and a broken table.
One student described it as, quote, "a riot." School officials aren't sure what started the fights. The student who was arrested was a juvenile. Classes continued at the school.
