JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Jay Nixon announced he will bring along a health care CEO with more than two decades of health administration experience to lead the Missouri Department of Social Services.
Alan Freeman, an Ellington, Missouri native, will take over as acting DSS director. Brian Kinkade, who had served as the director, will stay with the department as deputy director.
Freeman currently works as president and CEO for Grace Hill Health Centers in the St. Louis region. Previously, Freeman worked at a non-profit care provider serving several rural southeast Missouri counties. He also served in a leadership position in Harrisonville, in Cass County.
Freeman is a member of several professional organizations and has served in several leadership positions. Currently, Freeman is the President of the board of directors of the St. Louis Integrated Health Network. He has also held leadership positions with the St. Louis Regional Healh Commission and the Missouri Primary Care Association.
