No. 3 Texas A&M Downs Mizzou Tennis

COLUMBIA - The Mizzou tennis team fell to the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies 7-0 on Friday, March 22 at the Green Tennis Center. The Tigers dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-6 in Southeastern Conference play, while the Aggies improved to 14-1 and 7-0.

Texas A&M won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 action. No. 9 Stefania Hristov and Cristina Stancu defeated junior Cierra Gaytan-Leach sophomore Alex Clark, 8-4, at No. 1, while No. 67 Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar and Nazari Urbina dropped No. 68 senior Maria Christensen and junior Rachel Stuhlmann, 8-2, at No. 2.

The Aggies went up 2-0 when No. 6 Sanchez-Quintanar beat No. 114 Gaytan-Leach, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles play. The visitors secured the match win with victories at No. 4 and No. 3 action. At No. 4 singles, Ines Deheza defeated sophomore Elisha Gabb, 6-2, 6-2, while No. 43 Urbina ousted Christensen, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 3. A&M's Hristov followed that up with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over freshman Madison Rhyner at No. 6 singles.

Mizzou's Clark and Stuhlmann both battled hard during their matches but ultimately fell in three sets. At No. 2 singles, No. 62 Stancu posted a 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 7-6 (14-12) win over Stuhlmann, while Wen Sun defeated Clark at No. 5 action, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).

Missouri hosts Wichita State on Sunday, March 24 at Noon at the Green Tennis Center.
