No Kill Columbia Holds Sunday Run/Fundraiser

COLUMBIA - No Kill Columbia and students from the University of Missouri are hosting "It's Raining Cats and Dogs 5k Run/Walk" Sunday at Twin Lakes Park.

The family and pet friendly event goes from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will include local pet vendors, adoptable animals and fun activities for the public.

All proceeds will benefit the Spay Neuter Project, a partnership with Humane Alliance to create a low-cost and self sustaining spay and neuter clinic.

KOMU 8's Brittany Pieper will also serve as a celebrity judge for the pet costume contest at 2:30 p.m.

Registration for the 5k run/walk starts at 11:30 a.m. and costs 25 dollars. The 5k starts at 1 p.m. and each participant will receive a t-shirt and a doggie goodie bag with registration.

Awards will be given to top qualifiers of the 5K as well as for the winners of the pet costume contest during the closing ceremonies.
