No legal fireworks in O'Fallon
O'FALLON (AP) - O'Fallon residents will have to go elsewhere to set off fireworks around the Fourth of July.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that City Councilman Dave Hinman on Thursday dropped his effort to legalize fireworks use around the holiday. He told the council he reached the decision after negative feedback from residents, who want fireworks to remain banned.
His bill would have made fireworks legal every July 3 and July 4 from noon to 11 p.m.
St. Charles County towns vary on fireworks laws. St. Peters, Wentzville and Lake St. Louis also ban them, but fireworks are allowed in unincorporated areas and in St. Charles, Dardenne Prairie, Cottleville and Weldon Spring.
