COLUMBIA - One police officer can check good deed off his Sunday list.

Officer Chris Williams safely drove a family home when Public Safety Joint Communications reported a woman and five small children under the age of five walking on the 3200 block of Clark Lane on May 22, 2016.

Before dropping the family off at their home, Williams drove by McDonald's and bought each family member something to eat. William's offered to assist them in the future if they ever needed a ride again.

This is not the first time Williams has bought a meal for a stranger. Last August, Officer Williams and Officer Terranova bought a meal for a man they never met before.

Prior to working for the Columbia Police Department, Williams worked with at-risk youth at the Robert L. Perry Juvenile Justice Center.

Officer Williams has been with CPD since August 2014.
