Officers Arrest 21 People During Sobriety Checkpoint
COLUMBIA - The Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested 21 people during a sobriety checkpoint early Saturday morning.
Officers conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Highway 763, just north of the intersection with Smiley Lane, shortly after midnight until 3:30 a.m.
During the checkpoint, police checked about 365 vehicles. Officers made 10 misdemeanor arrests for driving while intoxicated, one misdemeanor arrest for driving with a suspended driver's license, seven misdemeanor arrests for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license, one misdemeanor arrests for possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana, and two misdemeanor warrant arrests.
The Hallsville Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and a member of the Columbia Police Department DWI Enforcement Unit assisted in conducting the checkpoint.
