Officers Investigating Two Overnight Shots Fired Calls
COLUMBIA - Columbia Police Officers responded to two calls of shots fired early Sunday morning.
The first report came from the 900 block of Business Loop 70. Officers said they were on patrol in the area around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when they heard several shots. Officers said Joint Communications also received several phone calls about shots fired in the same area.
Authorities said they found one bullet in the road at North Boulevard and Coats Street. No witnesses were found and no injuries were reported.
The second report came from the area of Citadel and Derby Ridge. Officers responded to the scene at 2:49 a.m. and found nine shell casings on the west side of Derby Ridge, on the sidewalk near the 1600 block of Citadel.
Officers said they found six bullet holes on a house in the 1700 block of Bold Ruler. Shots were also fired at this house on March 13, 2014.
Authorities said the residents were not home at the time the shots were fired Sunday morning. No injuries were reported.
The Columbia Police Department said there are no suspects in either case and investigations are still ongoing.
Police said there is no evidence that the two incidents are related.
