Ohio Police Spot Brian Adkison
WESTLAKE, Ohio - Police in Westlake, Ohio confirmed with KOMU 8 News that they spotted Brian Adkison Tuesday, who is on the run from law enforcement agencies, but they do not have him in custody.
The police would not disclose the exact location where they saw him, but did say they found items in a car they believe belong to Adkison.
A separate report from The Associated Press say police in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake, Ohio identified Adkison after trying to question a man sleeping in his truck at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. The man fled the scene in his truck.
Officers in a nearby town disabled the pickup about 15 minutes later with stop sticks. Adkison ran off and remained at large following an extensive search.
Police say the truck was stolen in West Virginia and had a stolen Pennsylvania plate.
Morgan County Sheriff's deputies arrested Adkison on June 21 for several charges, including kidnapping, sexual assault and forcible rape. The sheriff's department said they suspect he kidnapped 23-year-old Lauren Crawford of Caldwell County on June 15 in Boone County. Adkison later escaped from the Caldwell County Detention Center in the early morning hours of August 11 and he is still missing.
Crawford is a student at the University of Missouri.
