One dead, one hurt in shooting at Columbia Waffle House
COLUMBIA - One person died and another was hurt in a double shooting at the Waffle House on Vandiver Drive.
According to police, officers responded to the restaurant shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. As they arrived, they learned two people had been taken to a local hospital.
Police said the shooting happened during a fight, during which two males were shot.
Anthony Desean Warren, 30, died at the hospital; the other victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
No suspect information has been released.
This is not the first time this Waffle House location has been the site of criminal activity.
In August of 2016, a robbery happened in the parking lot, no one was hurt.
In August of 2015, Columbia Police responded to a shots fired call and later arrested convicted felon Christopher Robinson.
Waffle House employee Milanne Bell'fox said situations like those put staff in bad situations, but she believes Waffle House itself is not to blame for the criminal activity that is happening around it.
"It's more so maybe this area," Bell'fox said. "Because the hotels, a lot of stuff happens over here. This is just a set location where people come to misbehave."
