One Injured in Highway YY Fire
BOONE COUNTY - Boone County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday near Highway YY, just southeast of Harrisburg that required seven fire trucks and 23 firefighters.
The fire has been put out, but one person suffered burn injuries as a result of the fire.
The person was transported to the University Hospital by private vehicle to treat burns before authorities arrived at the scene.
Authorities said the victim's father took him to the hospital but they are unsure whether he was working inside the home with him at that time.
Authorities ruled the fire accidental and said it was caused from construction inside the home.
"The investigation is complete...they were refinishing the floor at the time, said Gale Blomenkamp, Boone County Fire Division Chief. "So we believe that to be the actual cause of the fire. We hope the victim that suffered burns here is recovering okay."
The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis Wednesday night.
Officials say the house is a total loss.
