One person in hospital after Pettis County shooting
LA MONTE - The Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office filed charges against three men after a home invasion Saturday night.
22-year-old Piaget Deitas, 22-year-old Joyter Meseky, and 23-year-old Alexander T. Alexander each received charges of burglary in the first degree.
Charges against a fourth suspect, Allen Deitas, age 18, are waiting until his release from the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Deitas was shot at least twice.
The shooting happened at the Frog Hollow Apartments around 10 p.m.
A release from the Pettis County Sheriff's office said the four suspects went to one of the apartments at the complex just before the incident. The men stole a pistol while inside and then pointed it at the resident. The resident fired a different pistol in his possession, hitting Deitas.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim was on the sidewalk in front of the apartment with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the chest.
Authorities determined the resident acted in self defense and the prosecutor declined to file charges against him.
