Owner of Tony's Restaurant in St. Louis Attacked
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Famed St. Louis restaurant owner Vince Bommarito says he'll be more careful going home at night after being attacked by a pair of holdup men. And the stickup artists might want think twice about assuming someone's an easy mark.
Bommarito, the 80-year-old owner of the landmark Tony's Restaurant, says it happened late Monday night as he was unloading his car near his home. KSDK-TV reports the men surprised him from behind, hit and kicked him, and stole his briefcase.
But Bommarito gave as good as he got, biting and kicking one of the men and yelling for help. A neighbor called police and the men escaped.
Bommarito suffered some bruises but declined medical treatment. And he's grateful police recovered the most valuable item from his briefcase -- his address book.
