Parents experience baby fever at Hello Baby Expo
COLUMBIA - Mid-Missourians attended the Hello Baby Expo Saturday morning to learn health care tips and participate in fun children's activities.
Organizers said the event hosted 80 booths and was the largest baby expo in the four years the event has taken place.
Several mothers said finding a pediatrician can be difficult, but the baby expo makes that choice a little easier.
"We came last year while we were pregnant with Skylar and met with a lot of the local vendors. We found our pediatrician here and there's a lot of information being provided," said Chris Phelps, father to an 8-month-old.
Nutrition specialists helped teach current and future parents how to keep their babies as healthy as possible.
One mother and her toddler were crafting at the expo. She said her son can't wait to be a big brother. She said he keeps hugging her stomach and telling her that he loves the new baby.
The expo also targeted many first-time parents.
"I'm here because I'm currently expecting. I kind of wanted a general idea on what I could get a head start on for my child," Caitlin Infield said.
The expo featured several local baby retailers. People had the chance to win gift cards and other prizes. Some of the most popular activities were the diaper derby crawling race and the baby fashion show.
