Paris Principal Resigns
The Paris School Board met in secret last Friday to discuss David Parker's future. The reason for Parker's troubles is now public.
Janice Jones works at Casey's General Store and stocking isn't the only thing on her mind. She, along with other Paris residents, are trying to understand why the Paris Elementary School principal got a three day suspension last week.
"Haven't really heard a lot... I mean, just a lot of rumors and that he was put on temporary leave," explained Jones.
Paris Superintendent Jim Masters ended the rumors with the reason for the suspension and ultimate resignation. Masters says faculty working with Parker reported communication problems. And more problems with the way Parker worked with them.
"Any time you're trying to put together a leadership team a good fit is absolutely necessary," Masters said.
In smaller towns like Paris, people see each other at places like Casey's General Store. When something happens in the town, people want to know. But now that information is out, Masters hopes the incident won't shake up the community.
"We will work one day at a time. Take steps to try and restore a sense of purpose and get refocused on the matters at hand," Masters said. Masters hopes to have an interim principal immediately.
The board will hold a closed meeting tonight to accept Parker's resignation and discuss future plans for the position.
