Part of I-29 Closed Due to Blizzard-like Conditions
JEFFERSON CITY - From St. Joseph, Mo. to the Iowa state line, I-29 will be closed until further notice due to blizzard-like conditions.
According to a press release from the Missouri Department of Transportation, they determined the interstate was unsafe after talking with Missouri State Highway Patrol. The interstate is closed starting at mile marker 56, where I-29 junctions with I-299. Drivers on I-29 should exit the highway at the next exit where they can find shelter because continued travel in the area is dangerous.
MoDOT also said travel in Northwest Missouri and Kansas City areas is not advised due to the severe conditions of this winter's first major storm. MoDOT said they have crews out in full force plowing snow.
