Participants Rappel to Benefit Special Olympics
JEFFERSON CITY - Some local residents, including KOMU 8's own Michelle Bogowith, got a whole new view of Jefferson City Monday after rappelling from the top of the Jefferson City State Building.
The event benefited the Special Olympics. Anyone who raised more that $1,000 for the organization could participate in the rappel.
The event was sponsored by Over the Edge, a national group that partners with non-profit organizations to sponsor extreme events. The group will also hold a local event in Feburary to go swimming in an icy lake to raise money for Special Olympics.
Bogowith rapelled from the top of the 13-story building to land on top of the first floor roof.
Bogowith said the experience was terrifying, but she saw some views she does not get to see everyday.
