Participants Travel Missouri by Canoe
JEFFERSON CITY - Some call it the world's longest canoe and kayak race.
It's 340 miles that begins in Kansas City and ends in St. Charles.
Participants were up racing in the early morning hours Thursday morning.
More than 200 people were expected to participate.
Participants got 3 1/2 days to get across the state.
One Western Kansas whose son was actually brave enough to take on the race.
"He's actually been going out on his kayak for quite a few months on the weekend." Sunell Koerner. "He's been here in the nice weather since spring. His wife would take him out and he would just kayak to another point and she would pick him up. And he's been doing it for a while."
Participants could check in at Katfish Katy's in Boone County until 7p.m. Thursday.
